Govt Vocational Higher Secondary School for Girls, Nadakkavu is the only Vocational H.S.S. Exclusively for girls in the Kozhikode Corporation.
The school is situated in the heart of Kozhikode. The school was started in 1893. in 1942 it was upgraded to High School.
There are about 2400 students studying in the different sections of the school like the UP, HS,HSS and VHSE.
The VHSE section was started in the Year 1990 with the aim of imparting vocational training and education to students of higher secondary classes. When vocational education was introduced in schools in Kerala adequate steps were taken to ensure that the students studying under the vocational scheme could continue higher studies in regular colleges just like students from the higher secondary classes.
GVHSS For Girls Nadakkavu VHSE section has a very active NSS Unit (Unit No. K24) functioning under the able guidance of Smt Jisha K., The programme officer, The Secretary of the unit is Kumari. Shriya shajeevan O. 2nd year MLT student . The Unit enjoys a strength of 50 students each from both the first and 2nd year. To promote social commitment among the students the NSS unit has embarked on a novel project “Koottukarikku Sneha Poorvam” which is also the mega project of the unit for this academic year. As part of the project the NSS unit has under taken the construction of a house which would be duly handed over to one of the less privileged students of the school.
